Three killed as terrorists attack Katsina community

Suspected terrorists have killed three people during an attack on Hajar Kanwar village, Jibia Local Government Area of Katsina State on Tuesday.

The gunmen also reported to have injured two other residents, rustled domestic animals and carted away money, handsets and food.

Residents of the community revealed that the gunmen arrived in the village around 2am on motorcycles, while armed with weapons, including AK-47 rifles, saying six people, including a pregnant woman, were reportedly abducted by the gang.

It was learnt that the terrorists were have directed the villagers to contribute N20,000 each within the next seven days when they said they would return to pick up the money or face consequences.

The spokesman for the state police command, SP Gambo Isah, confirmed the incident.

He said, “Yes, two people were killed and three were injured. Due to the ongoing operations in Sokoto and Zamfara, a large number of terrorists/bandits are trooping into Katsina through Zamfara.

“It was while they were coming in that they attacked some villagers at Kanwar Jaja, Jibia LGA. But no kidnapping took place.”
