Banditry: Zamfara govt donates N25 million worth food, clothing to victims
The Zamfara government, on Sunday, presented N25 million worth of bags of varied cereals and apparel supplies to the relatives of people who were killed by bandits in the state at Tsafe Local Government Area.
This is according to a statement made in Gusau by the Director of Information, State Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management, and Social Development.
As indicated in the announcement, victims’ relatives were given money, food, and clothing help at Tsafe Palace.
The distribution activity was headed by Musa Bawa-Musa, the leader of the state government delegation and deputy speaker of the state house of assembly, who stated that the help was aimed to alleviate the relatives of the deceased.
The deputy speaker went on to say that the current government in the state will continue to generate ways to cope with the state’s bleak position.
“I express my condolences and sympathies to the relatives of the deceased, as well as the whole people of Tsafe local government area, for this heinous crime,” he stated.
In his remarks, the Emir of Tsafe, Alhaji Muhammadu Bawa, commended Gov Matawalle for responding to the victims’ distress within 48 hours, as well as the villages targeted by the robbers.
Meanwhile, the state Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management, and Social Development have handed 561 bags of varied grains, clothing, and non-food items to 428 internally displaced people (IDPs) from Tsafe LGA’s 15 villages.
The Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Alhaji Tukur Shehu-Kaya, who presented the products to the recipients, noted that the assistance to IDPs was part of the ministry’s reaction to the displaced individuals, with the goal of easing their plight.
Shehu-Kaya also underlined the ministry’s commitment to the predicament of the state’s IDPs and vulnerable households.
In response, Aminu Mudi, the Sole Administrator of Tsafe Local Government Council, promised the victims of the council’s ongoing assistance and fast reaction to the security situation.
