Gunmen who’re suspected to be terrorists on Friday, reportedly stormed Jumaat Mosque in the Zugu community of Gummi local government area of Zamfara State and kidnapped dozens of worshipers.
One of the worshipers, Ibrahim Mustapha, who was lucky to escape, told newsmen on Friday evening that the armed men hid their guns inside their clothes before they invaded the religious house when the Imam was about to start communicating his sermon.
He said ”no one saw them with guns and many people mistook them for worshippers. Nobody paid attention to them because they hid their guns.
“They fired several gunshots into the air and then moved to the forest with the captives.
The Public Relations Officer of the police command in the state, SP Muhammad Shehu said he had not welcomed a report about the invasion but promised to get back to newsmen.
