Suspected kidnap kingpin nabbed at Sokoto airport on way to Saudi Arabia for Hajj 2025

Operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) apprehended a suspected kidnap kingpin, identified as Sani Galadi, at the Sultan Abubakar International Airport in Sokoto on Monday. The arrest occurred around 11:15 AM. during a routine screening exercise for intending pilgrims at the Hajj terminal.

According to reports from Daily Trust, Galadi had been under surveillance by intelligence officers prior to his arrest. A top-ranking security official confirmed the details, stating, “Yes, one Galadi was arrested today at the terminal when undergoing final screening before departure for Saudi Arabia.”

Galadi’s arrest follows closely on the heels of the apprehension of another kidnap kingpin, who was taken into custody less than 24 hours earlier at the Hajj camp in Abuja for his involvement in high-profile kidnappings across Kogi State and Abuja.

Concerns have been raised regarding how such suspects manage to obtain travel documents and pass multiple layers of security undetected; however, the DSS source directed inquiries to passport and immigration authorities. “You can find out from those agencies,” he noted.

The DSS source further added, “What I know is that Galadi has been taken into custody, and he’s providing necessary answers to questions. He will have his day in court when the investigation is completed.”

As of Tuesday morning, there has been no official response from either the state government or any relevant security agency regarding this development.
