The Chairman, Senate Committee on Agricultural Production Services and Rural Development, Senator Saliu Mustapha has inaugurated a committee to support smallholder farmers in Kwara state with the provision of fertilisers to boost their agricultural produce during this year’s farming season owing to an effort in ensuring a robust farming season in the State.
Alh Adebayo Ahmed Ayodele-led committee is expected to ensure seamless distribution of fertilisers to genuine farmers across the four local government areas of the senatorial district.
The committee, which was chaired by a former commissioner for Water Resources and one-time chairman of the All Farmers Association of Nigeria (AFAN)
Speaking at the inauguration of the committee, the legislative assistant to the Senator, Alh Abdulrahman Abdulkadir Tunde, said this is aimed at supporting genuine farmers across the senatorial district, adding that the committee would monitor and oversee the distribution of fertilisers.
The legislative aide, however, urged members of the committee to be transparent and upright in carrying out the assignment.
In his remarks, the chairman of the committee, Adebayo Ahmed Ayodele, a former commissioner for Water Resources and one-time chairman of the All Farmers Association of Nigeria (AFAN), appreciated Senator Mustapha for the opportunity given to them to carrying out the task and promised not to betray the trust and confidence the senator has in them.
