Stop dumping large refuse in roro-bins, Kwara govt warns residents

The Kwara State Government has issued a stern warning to residents of Ilorin metropolis to cease using vehicles to dump large volumes of waste into roro-bins or face legal consequences.

State Commissioner for Environment, Mallam Shehu Ndanusa Usman, emphasized this while enforcing environmental laws in the Tanke area of the state capital.

“We are not out to intimidate anybody, but rather to caution you on the need to stop incessant dumping of refuse indiscriminately, especially on the road median, walkways, and inside drainages, which can inhibit free movement of water,” he stated.

Usman expressed frustration that despite numerous public awareness campaigns, including radio jingles and newspaper ads, some residents continue to violate environmental laws.

He urged residents to use commercial waste collectors for refuse disposal.

He also encouraged people to adopt healthy living habits at home and work, reiterating the administration’s commitment to maintaining a clean, hygienic, and healthy environment for all residents.
