Stay away from Lokoja-Abuja road for now – FG warns motorists

The Federal Government has sent message of warning to motorists planning to travel to the Northern parts of the country from the South and East through Kogi State to stay away from the Lokoja-Abuja dual carriageway.

Engr Jimoh Kajogbola, who’s the Federal Controller of Works in Kogi State, issued the warning via a statement in Lokoja, the capital of the state, advising motorists to make use of alternative routes.

Kajogbola said, “Due to the flooding in the country, River Niger has overflowed the Lokoja-Abuja dual carriageway at Koton-Karfe and rendered it dangerous to road users.

“Abuja-bound motorists from the South-West are advised to pass through the Ilorin-Mokwa-Bida road, while motorists from the East and South-South are advised to pass through Makurdi-Lafia road.”

He has advised motorists to make use of alternative roads, pending the moment the water level will recede.

Kajogbola revealed that the message of advice also goes to motorists from South-South, South-East and South-West.

He has advised motorists to either take Abuja-Bida-Mokwa-Jebba road and Abuja-Lafia-Makurdi-Otukpa road pending the moment the water will subside at Koton-Karfe.
