President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday, 23 July, 2019, transmitted names of ministers-designates to the Senate, to set the wheel of governance rolling.
Nigerians had to wait for about 57 days after president Buhari’s inauguration into for second term as Chief Excutive Officer of the country before the president submitted the list of those who will constitute his new cabinet to the senate for screening.
Chairman of the Senate, Senator Ahmed Lawan, reveal the names of the nominees during senate plenary on Tuesday, noting that screening would kick off on Wednesday.
As 43 names of nominees were presented to the Senate only 7 females were considered for nomination into president Buhari’s cabinet.
Nominees were picked from all the 6 geo-political regions of the federation as the North-West enjoyed the highest number of nominees while the South-East has the lowest.
Aside Zainab Shamsudeen Ahmed, 11 former ministers from president Buhari’s last administration were returned.
