Speaker Danladi has ‘sold’ Kwara assembly to Governor AbdulRazaq – Embattled Kwara lawmaker

…says Speaker prioritising ambition to succeed AbdulRazaq over Kwarans’ interests

The lawmaker representing Edu Constituency in the Kwara State House of Assembly, Saba Yisa Gideon, has accused Speaker Yakubu Danladi-Salihu of “selling” the Assembly to Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, alleging that he prioritises his ambition to succeed the governor over the interests of Kwarans.

Gideon made the allegation during an interview on Diamond FM, Ilorin.

“Kwara State House of Assembly is peaceful because Hon. Yakubu Danladi has sold our Assembly to the governor. He doesn’t defend the interests of Kwarans; he is only defending his personal interest of becoming Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s successor,” he said.

The lawmaker further alleged that Danladi had deprived lawmakers of the opportunity to speak directly with the governor on issues affecting their constituencies.

“He has also deprived us of the opportunity to speak directly with the governor. Imagine, since we won election, governor has not picked my calls,” Gideon added.

His comments come amid political tensions in the Assembly following his defection from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The Assembly subsequently declared his seat vacant alongside that of Olushola Odetundun, who also defected from the APC to the PDP, a decision the PDP has challenged.
