It was all a flying start for the Spanish as they went rout on Costa Rica in the opening game of the 2022 World Cup.

The Luiz Enrique side pumelled the South American side seven goals to nothing in another Group E encounter, thus sending a message to their next opponents, Germany.

A one sided game it was all through as the young players repleted Spaniard team cruised to their ever biggest win in the World Cup.

Dani Olmo gave the La Roja’s their 100th World Cup goal in 12th-minutes as opener before strikes from Marco Asensio and a Ferran Torres penalty make sure they head in to the break with their head high.

Torres would later double his tally early in the second half with the dominance also earning Gavi a volley, before substitutes Carlos Soler and Alvaro Morata added two more late on to the delight of their fans.

For Germany, who had suffered a 2-1 shock defeat to Japan earlier in the day, it would be a high mountain to climb as they face off with Spain in their next game on Sunday.

While Spain will be looking forward to complement their secured advantage on Sunday, the Hansi flick boys would need at least a win from the clash to increase their stake of reaching the second round.

More importantly, it’s definitely going to be a huge test to the resolve of the Spanish team who have been practically ruled out as a favourite due to their roll call of relatively young players.

Japan will als be hoping for another victory when they face Costa Rica in their second round match on the same day.
