Shooting Stars’ fans attack Journalist in Ibadan
Fans and Supporters of Shooting Stars Sports Club of Ibadan on Wednesday were on rampage as they launched a physical attacked on Tobi Adepoju, a famous Sports Journalist.
The attack took place at the recently refurbished Lekan Salami Adamasingba Stadium in Ibadan after the NPFL matchday 30 between Shooting Stars and Remo Stars which ended 1-1.
In a video making rounds on the social media, Adepoju was seen running for his live as the fans of the Ibadan based club continue to reign beatings on him.
While it took the intervention of the Police who had to fire gunshots to disperse the fans, the attack was allegedly carried out on the order of the Club’s General Manager, Dimeji Lawal.
In a different statements , the members of Lagos State and Oyo State Chapters of Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) condemned the attack and called on Oyo State government to bring the perpetrators to book.
Also charging the Club to reprimand the fans for their dastard act, a group of Journalist who had petitioned the management of Shooting Stars to launch a full wrath of law on the offenders also demanded a letter of apology from the club before the close of work on Friday, June 3.
