Several bandits neutralised as troops smash terror camps in Kwara

Fresh military offensives targeting terrorist hideouts in Kwara State have recorded major successes, with several bandits neutralised and their camps destroyed across parts of Edu, Ifelodun and Patigi Local Government Areas.

Security sources confirmed that troops, operating under the ongoing Operation India, launched coordinated attacks on camps used by notorious kidnappers and terrorists in Baba Sango (Ifelodun), Gbugbu (Edu) and Lata (Patigi).

Preliminary security reports from the operation theatre revealed that the sustained onslaught has thrown the criminal groups into disarray, forcing them to abandon key positions.

“It is obvious that Operation India has disrupted the bandits and displaced them from their strongholds,” a security report noted.

Military sources disclosed that while many terrorist camps were successfully destroyed, several bandits were either killed or sustained varying degrees of injuries during the operations.

However, the military expressed concern that the campaign is being hampered by informants within some communities who leak information about troop movements to the criminals.

Despite this challenge, security officials said the operations have significantly weakened the bandits’ network and urged residents to remain vigilant and report collaborators aiding the criminals, stressing that community cooperation is vital to achieving lasting peace in the affected areas.
