“Send me location”: Mark Zuckerberg agrees to fight Elon Musk in cage
Two prominent technology billionaires, Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg, have announced their agreement to participate in a cage match against each other.
Elon Musk initiated the challenge by posting a message on Twitter expressing his readiness for a cage fight with Mark Zuckerberg.
In response, Mark Zuckerberg, the CEO of Meta, the parent company of Facebook and Instagram, shared a screenshot of Musk’s tweet and wrote, “send me location.”
A spokesperson from Meta told the BBC, “The story speaks for itself.”
Musk then replied to Zuckerberg, suggesting, “Vegas Octagon.”
The Octagon refers to the arena used for Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) matches, which takes place in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Musk, who will turn 52 later this month, further tweeted about his unconventional fighting tactics, mentioning a move called “The Walrus” where he would lie on top of his opponent and do nothing. He also humorously mentioned his lack of regular workouts, except for playfully lifting and throwing his children in the air.
Meanwhile, 39-year-old Zuckerberg has been actively training in mixed martial arts (MMA) and has achieved success in jiu-jitsu tournaments.
Twitter did not provide a comment when approached by the BBC.
The online exchanges between the two billionaires quickly went viral, with social media users engaging in debates about the potential outcome of the fight. Memes, including mock posters promoting the match, have been shared widely.
Earlier this month, Meta shared plans with its employees for a text-based social network intended to compete with Twitter. According to sources, the platform, currently known as P92, would enable users to follow accounts they already follow on Instagram. Meta confirmed to the BBC that the platform is under development.
This text-based network could prove to be a significant rival to Elon Musk’s presence on Twitter, potentially surpassing other initiatives such as BlueSky or Mastodon.
