Senate President congratulates Hilda Baci for breaking Guinness world record

Senator Ahmad Lawan, the Senate president, Federal Republic of Nigeria, has sent his congratulatory message to Nigerian chef, Hilda Baci, for breaking the world record in cooking marathon.

Lawan, in a statement on Monday in Abuja by his Special Adviser, Media, Ola Awoniyi, noted that Baci’s feat is a reminder to the entire world that Nigerians are talented and are capable of excelling in any endeavour, said, “I celebrate Hilda Baci for breaking Guinness World record in ‘longest cooking time.’

“You have made us proud by again showing to the entire world that we have all it takes to excel in any task we set our hands on.”

The Senate President also commended the Lagos State government for the tremendous support giving to Baci to showcase herself and Nigeria to the world.

World Record-smashing Nigerian chef, Hilda Bassey Effiong aka Hilda Baci has ended her marathon cooking at 100 hours, setting a new Guinness World Record for ‘longest cooking time’ by an individual.

The Informant247 recalls that Hilda on Monday morning, surpassed the record held by Indian chef Lata Tandon for the longest cooking duration.

The 27-year-old Akwa-Ibom-born chef will then go on to hit her initial 96-hour target only for her to go extra four hours, peaking at a new world record of 100 hours.

Announcing her marathon cooking challenge extension from 96 to 100 hrs in an Instagram post on Monday afternoon, Baci’s best friend @ama_reginald wrote: ”’Let’s go. I asked my baby to make it a round figure, so we are doing 100hrs.”

As of 4:00 pm on Monday, Baci had cooked for 96 hours to surpass the previous record set by Lata Tondon, an Indian chef, in 2019.

Lata Tondon cooked for 87 hours, 45 minutes, and 00 seconds to break the previous title.

Hilda started cooking on Thursday at 4 pm Nigerian time when she turned on her cooker for the cook-a-thon.

Meanwhile, President Muhammadu Buhari, Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwoolu, and Senate president hopeful, Godswill Akpabio are among some of the dignitaries who threw their weights behind her in her quest.

Celebrities, clerics and other well-meaning Nigerians also came out both on social media and right at the venue to cheer on the celebrity chef to victory.

However, the Guinness World Records management will review the chef’s unprecedented feat before her name is officially inducted into the famous book that comprises a host of Nigerians with achievements in other categories.
