The lawmaker representing Kwara North Senatorial District at the red chambers of the National Assembly, Sen. (Pharm.) Sadiq Umar has explained that Youths and media played a vital role in democratic development urging journalists, especially online media practitioners in the state to extend their searchlight to his senatorial District.
Senator Sadiq who made the remarks while hosting members of the Association of Kwara Online Media Practitioners, ASKOMP, to Iftar in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital reiterated his commitment as a public office holder to people-oriented policies and development.
While reeling out his achievements, Senator Sadiq said he has facilitated 40 infrastructural development projects, organized 10 different empowerment programmes with thousands of beneficiaries and introduced a social security scheme of N5000 for aged drawn from five local governments in his constituency.
He also praised the power of Youths and media noting that the two major drivers of the Otoge movement which delivered victory to the APC in the state were the youth and the media, stating that the media space was predominantly controlled by young people.
While appraising the work of ASKOMP, the Senator advised members of the association to sustain their objectivity and to partner with the Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq government in order to make Kwara a better place for all.
