The senatorial candidate for Kwara Central, on the platform of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Dr Ridwanullahi Apaokagi has sent his congratulatory wishes to his political rival in the February 25 National Assembly elections.
The Informant247 recalls that the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, declared the Senator elect, Mallam Saliu Mustapha of the All Progressives Congress (APC) the winner of the senatorial elections, defeating the senatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Bolaji Abdullahi and Dr Apaokagi.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Tuesday, March 7, 2023 presented the sensor elect and other newly elected members of the 10th National Assembly their certificates of return.
While granting a radio interview on Wednesday, March 8, 2023, Apaokagi confessed that he does not have any issue with the senator elect.
He also sent his congratulatory wishes to Mustapha and all other newly elected political actors and advised them to perform their office’s responsibility in accordance with the provisions of the Constitution.
While reacting to his outing in the election, he blamed the internal crises in his party among others.
He dismissed the rumour that his political party has aligned with other parties in the state, reaffirming the hopefulness and independence of the party in the future.
Dr Akpaokagi, called on the people of the state to cast their votes for the governorship candidate of the SDP in the state, Alh Hakeem Lawal, testifying that the guber flagbearer was ready to consolidate on the legacy of his father.
He said, “I appeal to all Kwarans to support the ambition of the party’s gubernatorial candidate, Alhaji AbdulHakeem Lawal by casting your votes for him to become the next governor of Kwara State.
“Our candidate is ready to serve the people of Kwara, not excluding the youths with all that is available in the government.
“Hakeem Lawal is ready to continue with the legacy of democracy being built by his father, a former governor of Kwara State during the last 20 years,” he said.
