SDP lambasts Kwara gov. Abdulrazaq over poor infrastructures in Ilorin metropolis
The Social Democratic Party, SDP, Kwara State Chapter has condemned the government of Kwara State led by Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq over slow pace of infrastructural development in Ilorin, the capital of the state.
The political platform has berated the state government over poor condition of infrastructures such as schools and road networks in the state capital.
This was revealed in a signed statement made available on Monday by Abdulrasheed Akogun, the party’s Deputy Director Strategic Communications of SDP/Hakeem Lawal Campaign Council.
The statement revealed that the ongoing campaign interactive consultation of the guber candidate of the party, Alhaji Hakeem Oladimeji Lawal has exposed the poor state of infrastructural development under the nose of the APC government.
The party explained that its campaign championed by Hakeem Lawal to Ilorin South local government area on Sunday has exposed the Governor of the state, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq as an individual who has done little or nothing to develop the infrastructures of the state.
The statement added that the major roads in Ilorin metropolis are in deplorable conditions despite the over N100 billion tax payer’s funds and revenue of the current government.
“Yesterday, our governorship candidate, Hakeem Lawal visited Ilorin South local government area in continuation of statewide interactive parley with artisans and other apolitical societal stakeholders, ahead of the full-blown campaign for 2023 general elections. The campaign train that moves from Agba road to Tanke (Akanbi Ward 2) to Ago Ayekale, Agbabiaka in Gaa-Akanbi area experienced real life car racing trip with potholes filled Ilorin road.
“The deplorable state of Tanke University, Tanke to Division F, Pipeline, Awolowo road, Gaa-Akanbi to Agbabiaka road, Aga to Ganmo roads and others provides our candidate experience the plight of motorists and residents of the community hosting no fewer 400 separate communities.
“The same reality is applicable in the three remaining local government areas, making up Kwara Central Senatorial District. Ilorin West, Ilorin East Asa, which is worst hit is a clear testament that if the State capital can suffer this huge infrastructural deficit, the realities of Kwarans in Kwara South and North is better left to imaginations.
The SDP further remarked that Gaa-Akanbi to Agbabiaka road was one of the roads the incumbent government vowed to reconstruct during OTOGE movement but the roads have rather been abandoned by Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq.
“We hereby appeal to Kwarans to vote Hakeem Lawal in 2023 general elections in order to see real development and growth, that’ll berth the Kwara of our dreams, which shall be anchored on even and equitable distribution and deployment of resources and developments.
