SARAKI IS THE BACKBONE OF NIGERIA POLITICS – ONIYO

The former People Democratic Party aspirant for the Ilorin East/South federal constituency during the  last election,  Alhaji Tunde Akanbi Oniyo has described the Senate President, Bukola Saraki as the backbone of Nigeria politics.

  The former PDP aspirant, who spoke during his formal Decamping Declaration at the ward level, noted that the Senate President since the inception of the Eight Senate has continued to work towards the positive development of the country.

 “The Senate President, is the backbone of Nigeria politics today. He has continued working progressively with the Executives council to bring much needed development to our country. He is truly a leader. I only went to the other party, now I am back fully to my original background” he said.

 He however called on the people of Ilorin East Local Government to vote for the All Progressive Congress candidate at the November council election.

 The state publicity Secetary of the All Progressive Congress, Mr Sulyman Buhari, while reacting to this development observed that Oniyo never decamped to the People’s Democratic Party but he only went to play there.

 “Oniyo never decamped to the other party, he only went to play there and he is now back to his original background.”

 He further noted that his coming back would bring a positive development to the people of Gambari Ward 1 and the entire Ilorin East Local government. He also prayed for  Engr. AbdulMumen Lah, and urged the people to come out en mass to support and vote for him.

  An APC elder stateman, Alhaji Oladimeji Balogun, while speaking at the event preached unity. He emphasised that the ticket has been given to Engr. AbdulMumen Lah already, what they needed now was support. He afterward called on All Progressive Congress supporters and partymen to desist from act capable of causing disintegration within the party.

“I will like to formally welcome Oniyo back to our midst, we are indeed proud to have you back. May the almighty God continue to be with you.” The TIC supervising chairman, Gambari Ward 1, Alhaji Abdullateef Aremu prayed.

He further said ” I urge the people of Gambari Ward 1 to remain law abiding and support whoever the mandate is given.  Let’s desist from removing of posters as anyone caught in this act would be dealt with accordingly”

 Alhaji Oba Mahmud, an APC elder stateman from  Ilorin East Local Government, in his concluding remark lauded Mr. Oniyo for taking such a bold step and expressed happiness over his return. He further urged people to vote and support Engr. AbdulMumen Lah at the coming Local Government poll.

 Other personalities present at the formal declaration were the Seriki-Driver of Ilorin, a former Gambari Ward 1 Treasurer, Alhaji​ AbdulGaniyu Olowo, and one of the ward women leaders, Alhaja Monsurat Sulyman.

 Recalled that Mr. Oniyo decided to retrace his political step, by decamping to the All Progressive Congress some few weeks after the decision of the National Working Committee (PDP) to dissolve the Barr. Iyiola Oyedepo and Prince Sunday Fagbemi led faction of the party in the state. Among party stalwarts that decamped  along side Mr Oniyo was People’s Democratic Party’s Secetary, Ilorin East Local Government, Mr. Muhammad Hammad Bolaji.
