Ex-Senate President of Nigeria, Dr. Bukola Saraki, the Executive of Kwara State, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, the Speaker, Kwara House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Yakubu Danladi-Salihu among several other prominent Kwarans have extended felicitations to the Emir of Ilorin, Dr. Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari on his 80th Birthday.
Saraki in a mesage posted on his verified Twitter page said the Emir has consistently demonstrated wisdom, courage and piety, the qualities he said have helped to ensure that the Emirate continues to develop in peace during his reign.
On his part, Kwara Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq described the Emir as the symbol of unity for the people of Ilorin Emirate whose welfare the emir considers paramount.
“On behalf of the people of Kwara State, the government, and my family, I send my heartfelt felicitations to His Royal Highness the Emir of Ilorin and Chairman of the Kwara State Traditional Council Dr Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari on his 80th birthday anniversary,” the Governor said in a statement by his spokesman Rafiu Ajakaye.
“The last 80 years of His Eminence’s life have been quite eventful just as the over two decades of his reign as the Emir of Ilorin have recorded tremendous achievements for the sons and daughters of Ilorin, and the ancient city itself. His reign has been peaceful and progressive with a lot of dynamism brought to the royal stool. We expected no less from a man who is today the most certificated and cosmopolitan Emir of Ilorin in history. His Highness was a distinguished lawyer and a fine judicial officer who rose through the ranks to become one of the most senior justices of the Nigerian Court of Appeal from where he retired to sit on the throne of his forefathers.
“Despite overseeing a rainbow city with varied interests and backgrounds, his royal highness continues to use his stool to build a more united Ilorin Emirate while also helping to strengthen relationships among different peoples and traditional authorities of our great state. As a symbol of our unity, the Emir’s love for our people is visibly evergreen!”
Also, Kwara Assembly speaker Yakubu Danladi Salihu, in a statement issued by his Special Assistant, Media Ibrahim Sheriff described the Emir as a passionate father, whose commitment to the wellbeing, development and prosperity of Kwara state is exceptional.
Danladi said, “We thank God for His Royal Highness as he clocks 80. I join people all over the world in celebrating the royal blessing bequeathed Kwara by God in Maimartaba Serikin Ilory.
“It is my prayer that Your Highness continue to be strengthened in health and wisdom to continue guiding us towards the attainment of a better Kwara we can all be proud of.”
Likewise, the former governor of Kwara State, AbdulFatah Ahmed said the Emir is an exemplary reference for peace, development and societal cohesiveness.
Others who felicitated the Emir include; the Senator representing Kwara Central, Yahaya Oloriegbe, AGF AbdulRazaq, Lukman Mustapha, Sheriff Shagaya, Mus’ab Esinrogunjo, Hakeem Lawal among several others.
Meanwhile, the Emir had on Monday odered the cancelation of his annual birthday prayers and all celebrations to support the government’s efforts in containing the community transmission of the novel coronavirus.
