Sales rep in court over alleged stealing of medical products worth N3.1m
Paul Julius, a sales representative on Thursday appeared before a court over alleged stealing of medical supplies valued at N3.1 million from his boss.
The 39-year-old sales representative, was on Thursday brought before a Kaduna Chief Magistrates’ Court over alleged stealing of medical supplies valued at N3.1 million from his boss.
Julius who lives in Sabo Tasha, Kaduna, was charged by the police with obtaining money under false pretences and theft.
Insp Chidi Leo, who’s the Prosecution Counsel, informed the court that the defendant carried out the offence in September 2021 at Ungwan Pama area of Kaduna.
He revealed that the defendant got various medical supplies from Trinity Medicals Ltd. on the guise that he would supply them to customers and send the proceeds to the account of the company.
He added that the defendant illegally diverted the N3.1million he got from sales, to his another use without the consent of the manager of the company.
He said all efforts to regain the funds were not successful.
He added that the police said the offence was in contravention of sections 271 and 314 of the Penal Code of Kaduna State, 2017,” .
When the matter was read to the defendant, he pleaded not guilty.
Mr Ibrahim Emmanuel, the Magistrate granted the defendant the sum of N500,000 bail plus two sureties in like sum.
Emmanuel directed that the sureties must have reliable source of income and present evidence of two years’ tax payment to the State Government.
He has adjourned the matter until December 20 for hearing.
