Road accident claims seven lives on Kwara expressway
No fewer than seven persons were killed on Sunday, in a road accident auto that occurred at Otte town on Ogbomoso-Ilorin Expressway in Kwara State.
gathered that the accident involved a white commercial Mazda bus registered ZUR259XJ with 28 passengers on board.
The auto crash, according to the Sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Commission, FRSC, Jonathan Owoade, occurred at Otte town at about 0330hours.
He confirmed that seven persons perished while others sustained injuries.
The sector commander attributed the cause of the accident to overloading, overspeeding and burst tyre.
He disclosed that both injured passengers and those who died in the auto crash were taken to the General Hospital and Gerin-Alimi Hospital in Ilorin, adding that the vehicle involved was handed over to the state traffic ‘A’ Division Police station, in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital.
The Sector Commander warned the general public to desist from overspeeding and overloading to prevent any of such unfortunate incidents.
