The crisis rocking Rivers state House of Assembly on Tuesday took a new twist as 25 anti-Governor SimFubara lawmakers, led by Speaker Rt. Hon. Martin Amaaewhule holds a parallel sitting in the state.

The Informant247 gathered that the anti-Fubara lawmakers held a plenary at the Assembly Complex amid tight security cover by the Police, where they successfully deliberated on two items concerning the suspension of the Parliamentary Staff Association of Nigeria (PASAN) strike, as well as ensuring the investigation of the fire incident that occurred at the assembly chamber on October 29.

Meanwhile, the pro-Governor Fubara lawmakers, led by Rt. Hon. Edison Ehie held a separate sitting at an undisclosed venue, where they passed a vote of confidence on the Governor.

The lawmakers, while commending Governor Fubara for his developmental strides and security initiatives in the state, further stressed that only a man of great vision and peace can steer the ship of development for the benefit of all Rivers people.

The lawmakers, according to a statement deposed to by Ken Uchendu, Legislative Correspondent, resolved to continuously give Governor Fubara the required support he needs to accomplish his consolidation and continuity agenda to benefit the State while condemning the attack on Edison Ehie’s residence and the burning of the hallowed chamber of the Rivers State House of Assembly.

They also appealed to the governor to rehabilitate the destroyed chamber while insisting that the Inspector General of police and other related security apparatus in the state investigate the attacks and bring the culprits to book.
