There’s protest in Osogbo, the capital of Osun State, over the widely rumoured plans to remove the traditional King of the city, Oba Jimoh Olanipekun (the Ataoja of Osogbo).
Some residents of the city have staged street protest against the rumored plans to dethrone the traditional monarch of the capital city.
The demonstrators on Thursday morning occupied some streets in the capital city of the state holding placards with various inscriptions.
The inscriptions on the placards included, “Don’t cause confusion in Osogbo”, “Stop the attempt to depose Oba Jimoh Olanipekun” and others.
The Informant247 learnt that the Governor of the state, Gboyega Oyetola through his media aide, Ismail Omipidan has earlier falsified the rumored plans.
Omipidan, in a press statement on Thursday, referred to the rumour as mischief and wickedness.
He also sent message of advice to the Osogbo Action Committee not to incite the citizens and residents against the Governor of the Osun State, Adegboyega Oyetola.
The leader of the Osogbo Action Committee, Ajadi Badmus had communicated the state governor in writing expressing worry and stating that it knew of plans to remove the Osogbo monarch.
Ajadi also revealed that the unfriendly relationship between the governor and the king may be the cause for the government’s alleged plan.
