Remaining Nigerians in Sudan will arrive soon — NiDCOM

About 1,700 stranded Nigerians left in Sudan will be evacuated “in a matter of days”, said the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM).

This was revealed by the head of media, public relations and protocols of the Commission, Abdur-Rahman Balogun, on Saturday, May 6th while speaking on how the remaining Nigerians in Sudan would be evacuated from the war torn zone.

The spokesperson of the Commission said the next phase of stranded Nigerians from the African country is expected to land in Nigeria in “another 12 hours or less, all things being equal”.

He said the government has resolved any obstacles that could delay other flights.

“Max Air with capacity of 540 PAX, AZMAN Air with 400 PAX and C130 are on ground to evacuate others, while Tarco promised to make two more trips as well as Air Peace on standby,” NAN quoted him as saying.

He said the government is ready to profile all the evacuees and take care of them — post trauma counseling and medical care inclusive.

He said the students among the evacuees would be made to work with the federal ministry of education to ensure that they continue with their studies in Nigeria.

The Dangote Foundation has given the returnees the sum of N100,000 and a bag.

The Commission also ensure that they received MTN SIM cards with N25,000 (airtime) for all evacuees.

The spokesperson of the Commission said a Nigerian would had an injury in his hand has received treatment and got discharged from the hospital.
