Relief as Tobi Amusan cleared for World Championship in Budapest
The road is now clear for Nigeria’s Queen of Track Tobi Amusan to participate at the upcoming World Championship in Budapest, Hungary.
Recall that Amusan was suspended by the Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) for missing three consecutive tests-a development that cast a big shadow on her chance of participating in the championship.
While the Athletics Federation of Nigeria has also released the list of Nigeria contingent billed for the event with Amusan’s name missing due to the provisional suspension.
However, everything now seems to be in the past now as she has been given the go ahead to represent Nigeria at the World Championship.
Amusan ran the fastest time ever in the hurdles at 12.12 seconds in the semi-final of the women’s 100m hurdles and in the final recorded a 12.06 seconds finish ahead of the Budapest 2023 contest where she is the woman to beat.
She is also expected to defend her title when the championship gets underway in Budapest
holds from August 19 to 27.
Nigeria’s contingent to Budapest will be seeking to add to the one gold, five silver and five bronze medals won by their predecessors from 1983
