The Premier League’s profitability and sustainability rules(PSR) has deducted ten points from Everton over the breach the PSR’s rule.
An independent commission imposed an immediate deduction from Everton, a development which will see them drop from 14th into the relegation zone.
Premier League claimed it had issued a complaint against the Merseyside club and referred the case to the independent commission earlier this year.
“During the proceedings, the club admitted it was in breach of the PSRs for the period ending season 2021-22 but the extent of the breach remained in dispute,” the league said in a statement.
“The Commission determined that Everton FC’s PSR Calculation for the relevant period resulted in a loss of £124.5 million ($154.7m), as contended by the Premier League, which exceeded the threshold of £105m permitted under the PSRs.”
Everton has endured a poor start into the season. Their poor run of form see them sitting in the final quarter of the log with the new development leaving them joint bottom of the Premier League with Burnley, who they only lead on goal difference
