Ahead of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan billed to commence on Wednesday, the premier league has initiated guidelines to allow Muslim players to break their fast during league matches.
According to Sky sports, Match officials have been issued guidance so players can break their fast by taking on liquids, energy gels or supplements on the touchline during a pause in play.
They have also been encouraged to always try and identify any players who may need to break their fast during the game ahead of match kick off including where possible to agree a rough time for this to happen.
A number of muslim players including Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah, Manchester City’s Riyad Mahrez and Chelsea’s Ngolo Kante, are expected to fast this month.
Ramadan, which will start on Wednesday will last a month.
