Qatar 2022: Morroco beat Spain on penalties to clinch first-ever quarter final ticket

The 2022 FIFA World Cup going on in Qatar witnessed another major upset in the history of football on Tuesday as Morroco defeat Spain 3-0 on penalties to qualify for the quarter finals of the mundial.

It was a tough-soaked encounter that saw both sides exhausting all the opportunities at goal throughout the regulation time with Spain having to racked up 1019 passes on the heel of their domination.

Morocco particularly would have to thank their goalkeeper,Yassine Bounou who despite saving two penalties during shootouts had earlier been impressive in the game time.

The 2010 World Cup winner lost all their spot kicks with one hitting the goalposts. And while Badr Benoun would also lost his kick for the African side, Madrid-born Achraf Hakimi wasted no time to slot home the decider to send the Morrocans to their first ever quarter final appearance.

Morroco will now face the winner between Portugal and Switzerland in the last eight stage clash
