PSG trash Inter Milan 5-0 to claim first UEFA Champions League title
In a historic showdown at the Allianz Arena in Munich, Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) delivered a breathtaking performance, overpowering Inter Milan with a decisive 5-0 victory to secure their first UEFA Champions League title, marking a monumental achievement in the club’s 55-year history.
Luis Enrique men delivered a high power attack, scoring twice within the first 20 minutes.
Achraf Hakimi opened the scoring in the 12th minute, capitalizing on a brilliant assist from Desire Duoe, who later etched his name in history with a brace. Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Senny Mayulu also contributed to the scoring spree, sealing an unforgettable encounter.
“It’s a dream come true for us,” said coach Luis Enrique. “We executed our game plan flawlessly, and the players showed remarkable determination and skill.”
PSG wasted no time, taking the lead early with Hakimi’s poise in front of goal. Just eight minutes later, a swift counterattack resulted in Duoe’s deflected shot doubling the lead, leaving Inter Milan scrambling to regroup.
Despite their efforts, including a close header from Marcus Thuram, Inter failed to find their footing. PSG continued to pile on the pressure, with Duoe finishing off a well-coordinated team effort, followed by Kvaratskhelia’s clinical finish. Mayulu’s late strike completed the rout, setting a new record for the highest margin in a European Cup final.
“This victory is a testament to our hard work and resilience,” Enrique added. “We’ve joined an elite group, and I couldn’t be prouder of our players and the club.”
With this triumph, PSG joins Olympique Marseille as the only French clubs to have won the prestigious UCL title, and Enrique secures his second Champions League title, becoming one of the few coaches to achieve such an honor with two different clubs.
