Protesters storm Ondo, Kwara, Delta over scarcity of new naira notes, rejection of old notes

Ondo town, Ondo State

There was a protest in Ondo town in Ondo West local government area of Ondo State, on Wednesday, as residents stormed the streets over scarcity of new naira notes.

The Informant247 understands that there’s been rejection of old naira notes by commercial banks in the country.

The protesters occupied the street for peaceful demonstration.

The demonstration was taking place at the well known Akure Motor Park roundabout at the time of producing this report.

The protest triggered the blockage of the road, traffic gridlock on the road.

The protesters were burning tyres as the operatives of the police were present to watch over the situation of the protest.

Ilorin, Kwara State

There’s a protest in Ilorin, the capital of Kwara State over the scarcity of new naira notes.

The Informant247 understands that there’s been rejection of old naira notes by commercial banks in the country.

There were demonstrations over rejection of the old naira notes by traders in Oloje and Oko-Olowo areas of the city.

Warri, Delta State

The demonstration in Delta State was that peaceful as youth set an Automated Teller Machine (ATM) on fire to register their displeasure over what they passed through while trying to assess the new naira notes in Warri.
