Professor Abubakar Olanrewaju Sulaiman, Director General of the National Institute of Legislative and Democratic Studies (NILDS), has provided financial support to 300 farmers in Kwara State, giving each farmer N100,000.

This initiative, known as Amana Farm2Feed, was launched under the Kwara Renaissance Group (KWRG) and initially aimed to provide farmers with access to tractors, which has already benefited 58 people.

Representing Professor Sulaiman at the event, his Special Adviser on Political Matters, Abdulrazaq Owolabi Wopa, explained that the initiative faced setbacks due to flooding and excessive rainfall, which affected the continued provision of tractors.

As a result, Wopa continued that they shifted to direct cash support to help farmers sustain their activities.

He assured farmers that tractor aid would resume as conditions improve, encouraging patience and commitment.

“We want people to understand that our Farm2Feed program, which started in July this year, is genuine,” Wopa said. “Professor Abubakar Olanrewaju Sulaiman launched this initiative to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s ‘Renewed Hope’ agenda and Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq’s ‘Operation Back to Farm’ initiative.”

He urged beneficiaries to use the funds for their intended farming purposes.

Sulyman Aminat Folawiyo, the coordinator of KWRG, explained that the program was initially set up to provide tractors to farmers.

She explained that due to unforeseen challenges, they decided to offer cash support, providing each verified farmer with N100,000 to aid their farming activities.

She noted that out of over 500 people who registered, 300 were verified as genuine farmers.

Aminat, who is also the Director of Cupid Events, advised the beneficiaries to reinvest the funds into their farms, emphasizing the importance of making the most of the opportunity.

She encouraged other stakeholders and philanthropists to follow Professor Sulyman’s example to help ensure food security in the state.

On behalf of the beneficiaries, Mr. Lukman thanked Professor Sulaiman and the KWRG team for the support.

He pledged that the farmers would use the assistance effectively, contributing to food availability in the state and potentially reducing food prices.
