Prince Owoade set to be presented certificate as Alaafin-elect today amid controversy

Prince Abimbola Akeem Owoade will, today, Monday, January 13, 2025, receive the certificate as the new Alaafin of Oyo, following his appointment by the state governor Seyi Makinde.

A palace source who requested anonymity told Vanguard that Prince Owoade is expected to return to Oyo town after receiving the certificate of office, saying the event would be impromptu and low-key to fast-track other necessary arrangements for the official coronation of the Alaafin-elect.

“Prince Owoade has been in Ibadan since yesterday. We anticipate he will be presented the certificate of office today, Insha Allah.”

“Though we never expected it will be urgent like this, I think it’s done in preparation for the official coronation,” he said.
