“Prepare for leadership,” Kwara govt tells youths
The Kwara State Government has urged young people to prepare for leadership positions through education, skills acquisition and active participation in public affairs.
The Commissioner for Youth Development, Amb. Ndanusa Usman Shehu, made the call while speaking on O’FM radio programme, Ijoba Mekunu, where he discussed youth participation in governance and the need for continuity in development.
Shehu urged young people to unite, take greater responsibility for their future and support credible youths willing to serve in leadership positions.
He said young people should not only seek opportunities but also equip themselves with the knowledge, skills and integrity needed to take up responsibilities at different levels of government.
The commissioner also urged residents to be thoughtful in making decisions about future leadership, saying leaders should be able to sustain and build on the state’s development efforts.
He commended Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s administration for what he described as efforts to bring governance closer to the people, adding that its policies and programmes had created empowerment, skills development and economic opportunities, particularly for young people.
As Nigeria prepared to mark its Independence Day, Shehu urged youths to reflect on the sacrifices and aspirations that shaped the country’s history.
He called on them to embrace patriotism, unity, courage and responsible citizenship, while using their talents and ideas to contribute to the development of Kwara State and Nigeria.
The commissioner wished residents a peaceful Independence Day celebration and reaffirmed the ministry’s commitment to supporting young people to become productive citizens and responsible leaders.
