Former Senate President Bukola Saraki is urging young people to get to exercise voting franchise in a short video.
The nearly two-minute video was released on Monday on his Instagram handle.
Saraki, explicitly referring to young people, stated that “power is firmly in” their “hands”, adding that they could shape the future of the country.
He said, “In 2019, 84 million Nigerians registered to vote, 51percent were below 35 years old. However, on election day, only 29 million voters came out. With about 80 million unregistered young voters, the power is firmly in your hand.
“Since the last election, your fearless determination to make Nigeria work for you has reverberated across the country and across the world, you will decide the future of this country.”
