Policemen mercilessly beat Kwara Doctor, harass Lawyer
The Policemen assigned to the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN in Ilorin, Kwara State, on Thursday evening, beat a Medical officer, Daniel Awoyemi mercilessly and harassed him on his way home.
It was gathered that when the policemen escorting the CBN staffers drove out of the CBN complex, they crossed the doctor’s vehicle, asked him to come down, started beating him, and tore his cloth.
An eyewitness who gave a clear account of the incident revealed that the Doctor was battered and thoroughly beaten by the policemen who claimed that Awoyemi failed to stop when he saw their vehicles moving.
Awoyemi who works at the general hospital, Ilorin, and belongs to the National Association of Government General Medical and Dental Practitioners (NAGGMDP), demanded justice.
According to a human rights lawyer, Yussuf Mashood Agboola est who was invited by the embittered medical officer to speak to the policemen said he was also harassed and chased away by the men of Nigerian police at the CBN in Ilorin, adding that the police officers insist that nothing can be done to them.
The human rights lawyer captured the plate number of the policemen involved in the unlawful attack on innocent citizen for further investigation and proof.
The plate number reads: “BWR675BC”.
Agboola stressed that he is ready to take up the case and promised that the culprit Policemen will be fished out and brought to book for the gross misconduct and unlawful punishment melted on the medical officer.
