Police shoot dead four bandits terrorising Benue communities — recover arms The Informant247

The Benue State Police Command says its operatives have shot dead four of the bandits believed to be terrorising Ukum Local Government Area of the State.

The Informant247 Nigeria News gathered that the operatives under a special force known as Operation Zenda were said to have intercepted the bandits who were reported to be heading towards Gbajire Village to launch attacks.

The dead bodies were dumped at the police headquarters in Makurdi on Saturday morning.

The leader of Operation Zenda, CSP Gberindyer Justin, briefing journalists at the police headquarters, said that the bandits were killed during an operation.

Those killed included Solo Orafaga, John Tyoakoso, Jude aka Headboy and an unidentified bandit.

He said, “The bandits numbering about 20 were ambushed by men of Operation Zenda on their way to attack a village called Gbagire following vivid information received during the operation.

“Unknown to the bandits, all their calls had been tracked by the intelligence unit and were carefully followed up as they executed plans on how to attack the village.”

He added that aside from the bandits killed during the gun duel, many others ran into the nearby bush with gun injuries.

According to him, items recovered from them include; one AK-47 rifle, one G3 rifle, one locally-made revolver pistol, 75 rounds of 6.72x39mm live ammunition, five rounds of 9mm live ammunition, AK-47 magazines, three G3 magazines, and 59 rounds of 7.62x49mm live ammunition.
