Police rescue 2 kidnapped victims, kill one suspected kidnapper in Edo
The Edo State Police Command has saved two kidnapped victims.
The police command has killed one suspected kidnapper on the Benin-Lagos road.
The command’s deputy spokesperson, ASP Jennifer Iwegbu, made this revelation in a statement, on Friday in Benin.
The spokesperson said the operation came following a distress call on Sept. 22 from some indigenes of the Ago-Orio community along Benin-Lagos road.
He revealed that the operatives encountered four armed men who were suspected to be kidnappers.
The suspected kidnappers, according to the deputy spokesperson had kidnapped two persons, 65 year old Samson Osegbowa, and 38 year old Stanley Peters, while they were doing some tasks on their farmland.”
The deputy spokesperson of the police in the state revealed that on receiving the information, the men of the command in connection with with the community’s local vigilantes immediately took the front stage.
She revealed that they were mobilized to the affected scene and conducted an intensive bush combing and saved the victims unhurt.
The spokesperson disclosed that one of the suspected kidnappers was killed during the operation.
Among the items recovered from the suspects, according to the spokesperson, include three cutlasses, one wooden gun, a pair of operational shoes and one torchlight.
