Police present N26m to families of deceased personnel in Borno

Family members of 12 cops who died in active service in Borno state were given N26 million by the state police command on Wednesday.

The Commissioner of Police, Mr Abdu Umar while presenting cheques to the beneficiaries in Maiduguri, said the gesture is sequel to the directives of the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Usman Baba-Alkali, as part of the Force commitment towards improving welfare of police and family members of the deceased personnel.

Umar commended the IGP for the gesture and urged the beneficiaries to ensure effective utilisation of the money to fend for their families.

Some of the beneficiaries, lauded the gesture, adding it would go a long way to improve their social and economic wellbeing.
