Ondo State Police have disputed media reports that gunmen abducted a couple in Akure, the state capital, on Monday evening.
Funmilayo Odunlami, the state’s Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), confirmed this to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Tuesday in Akure.
According to media sources, the couple was kidnapped and the husband was found dead in Akure’s Odiolowo neighbourhood.
Odunlami, on the other hand, said that the victim was a security guard who was murdered by a hit-and-run motorist, and that the victim’s wife had reported the incident to the police.

The victim’s wife has just left our office, thus there has been no occurrence of a couple being kidnapped anywhere in Ondo State.
