The Lagos State Police Command has revealed that the corpse of popular singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, widely known as Mohbad, might be exhumed for an autopsy if deemed necessary.
The 27-year-old artist, Mohbad, tragically passed away on Tuesday, sparking widespread speculation surrounding the circumstances of his demise.
During an Instagram live session with media personality Daddy Freeze (Ifedayo Olarinde), the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, affirmed that the police would rigorously investigate the cause of Mohbad’s death.
Earlier, Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, had issued a statement promising a thorough inquiry into the circumstances surrounding Mohbad’s passing.
SP Hundeyin reiterated this commitment, stating, “The Force PRO issued a statement this evening (Thursday) saying that the investigation will commence, and that’s what we’re going to do. If need be, the body will be exhumed. It’s not too late. The body can be exhumed, and an autopsy can be performed.”
He also emphasized that individuals with relevant information should come forward to share it with the Commissioner of Police in Lagos State or the Force Criminal Investigation Department Annex in Alagbon, Lagos, as part of the investigation.
The investigation follows the emergence of a document in which Mohbad reported threats to his life, malicious damage, assault, and oppression, among other allegations, against music promoter Samson Balogun, also known as Sam Larry, and others. Mohbad submitted this petition to the Force Criminal Investigation Department Annex in Alagbon, Lagos State.
In the petition dated June 27, 2023, Mohbad detailed how Sam Larry and a group of armed individuals disrupted a video shoot where he and another artist, Omoniyi Temidayo, known as Zlatan Ibile, were working. They allegedly threatened the artists, damaged equipment worth over N5 million, and physically assaulted Mohbad, who narrowly escaped with injuries.
The petition stated, “I of the above name and address, a law-abiding citizen and a Musician bring to your notice the assault and threat to my life by the above-mentioned persons.”
It further claimed that the assailants boasted of working for Oba Elegushi and declared their intention to harm Mohbad for reasons unknown.
