The Kwara State House of Assembly has express readiness for the implementation of every bills, motions and resolutions of the House.
In a statement obtained by THE INFORMANT247 through the SA Media to the Speaker, Mr. Ibrahim Sheriff noted that the Speaker made this disclosure in his office while receiving the Zonal Commander and administrative heads of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), who reciprocated his visit to the Zonal Command of the Corps in Ilorin June this year.
The Speaker said “the 9th Assembly is not for talk show. We are keen on ensuring implementation of every bills, motions and resolutions passed and same applies to the resolution of the House on indiscriminate road blockage, which is consequent upon our engagement with you. I am urging you to rise up to this responsibility”.
“We won’t only create awareness of the highway codes to our drivers but kisses with the state government because all Kwara road users deserve to be safe. We will move a motion for public enlightenment and awareness of all Kwarans on highway codes and safe driving”, he added.
However, the Zonal Commandant A A Nwaka appreciated the 9th Assembly for its diligence and effectiveness.
She said “I am glad you are acting swiftly on our discussions and more particularly I am impressed by your stance for openness to collaboration with security agencies. I hope this continues”.
Nwaka sought partnership of the House in the orientation of the House and VIP drivers about the highway codes, making particular emphasis on convoy driving.
She noted that many VIP get involved in ghastly accidents as a result of noncompliance with High Way Codes and miscalculated driving and consequently offered to train the House of Assembly drivers on special driving.
