Police cancels social engagements to honour late army chief

The Nigeria Police Force has expressed deep sorrow over the sudden death of Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja, who passed away on November 5, 2024.

In respect for the late Army Chief, the Inspector-General of Police has cancelled all personal and social engagements for the next two days.

This move, according to a statement by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, reflects the Inspector-General’s admiration for General Lagbaja’s service and dedication to Nigeria’s security.

IGP added that General Lagbaja was highly respected for his work against insurgency, banditry, and violent extremism, earning him wide recognition across the nation.

The Nigeria Police Force extended heartfelt condolences to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Nigerian Government, and General Lagbaja’s family and colleagues.

The statement acknowledged the lasting impact of General Lagbaja’s commitment to Nigeria’s safety and security.

The announcement was issued on behalf of the Inspector-General of Police on 6th November 2024.
