Police arrest man who set 5 children on fire as wife denied him sex

Ondo state police have reportedly arrested a 54-year old man, Ojo Joseph for allegedly setting on fire his five step children.

Report has it that the incident reportedly occurred at Fagun Crescent area of Ondo town.

Neighbours while addressing the press about the incident said that the suspect carried out the crime because his wife frustrated him over his conjugal right.

The suspect was reported to have poured petrol in the room where the victims were sleeping and set it ablaze.

It was further gathered that one of the children died on the spot while other children sustained severe injuries and have been hospitalized at the Federal Medical Centre, Owo where they’re currently receiving medical attention.

The spokesperson of the Police command, Funmilayo Odunlami, narrated that the suspect was apprehended over a case of alleged murder and arson.

She added that the police investigation has begun and the suspect would be dragged to court.
