Police arrest 23 criminals, recover weapons in christmas operations
The Nigeria Police Force has arrested 23 suspects, including armed robbers, hoodlums, and a kidnapper, during a series of operations aimed at ensuring public safety over the Christmas period.
Dangerous weapons, including a fabricated AK-47 rifle, were recovered during the raids across several states, according to a statement released by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi.
Acting on a directive from the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, officers across the country heightened security measures to protect citizens during the festive celebrations.
Arrests in Lagos and Kaduna
In Lagos, police responded to a distress call around 1 a.m. on Christmas Day about armed hoodlums attacking people in the Safejo area of Amukoko.
Officers swiftly arrested three suspects: Emmanuel Okoli, 20; Ogunde Tejiri, 20; and Emmanuel Orji, 18. Weapons used in the robbery were recovered, and efforts are underway to capture other gang members who fled the scene.
In Kaduna, police arrested Sule Muhammad, 25, a suspected kidnapper linked to several abductions in the Saminaka area.
The arrest, which occurred around 8 p.m. on Christmas Day, led to the recovery of a fabricated AK-47 rifle. Muhammad has reportedly confessed to being part of a notorious kidnapping gang.
Authorities are now working to apprehend other members of the group and recover additional weapons.
Nationwide Operations
Similar police efforts in Delta, Ogun, Katsina, Benue, the Federal Capital Territory, and Imo State led to the arrest of several suspects involved in criminal activities during the Christmas celebrations.

“Our officers have displayed exemplary commitment to safeguarding our communities during this festive season,” the IGP stated, reassuring Nigerians of the Force’s determination to maintain peace and security throughout the holidays.
