Police apprehend 680 suspects, secure 315 convictions in Yobe
Yobe State Police Command has said that its operatives have apprehended a total number of 680 suspects for various forms of offences across the State within the last eight months.
315 out of the suspects have been convicted.
The State Commissioner of Police, Garba Haruna, made this revelation while reporting to the Inspector General of Police, Usman Baba Alkali at an event.
The event was to mark the official commissioning of a newly built Damaturu Police Area Command.
The CP also informed the IGP that 165 of the suspects, are standing trial at various courts.
He said nine double-barrel guns, four AK-47 rifles, 10 vehicles, and 75 rounds of 7.62mm live ammunition, were recovered by men of the Command, within the period of time.
He said even though manpower and logistics were not sufficient, the command has been able to record the successes in the combat against crime via community partnership and intelligence-led policing.
“At this juncture, I wish to assure our dynamic and pragmatic IGP that officers and men of Yobe State Command will not let you down.
“We remain resolute, committed and dedicated to our statutory and constitutional duties of maintaining law and order, crime prevention, public safety and security in the state”, he assured.
Haruna also gave assurance to the Inspector General of Police that the structures commissioned would be made use of in proper use.
