Kwara United held to a draw by Plateau United in Ilorin

Kwara United were on Monday left frustrated as the visiting Plateau United held them to a 1-1 draw in their NPFL matchday 22 encounters.

It was the home side who drew the first blood when Kabiru Balogun set up Samad Kadiri who wasted no time turning in what was his fourth goal of the season.

The visitors gave a quick reaction to the scoreline u the Kwara-born attacker, Wasiu Jimoh profiteered from a rumble to and headed home the equalizer.

While all was up for grab in the second half, its twists and thrills threw more spanner to the encounter which has the home side dominating but had no goal to show for it.

For Plateau, the result means that they continue to keep a tab on their title race -maintaining the second spot on the log closely behind Rivers United.

Dropping two points from a possible three at home isn’t a good omen for Kwara United whose ultimate target remains a continental ticket.

Ayobami Junior had the best of his game with Harmony Boys as he held the pace of the game on his shoulder by creating ample of unconverted chances for the homeside.

In a homecoming encounter for the goalkeeper of Plateau United, Suraj Aiyeleso, the former safe hand for Harmony boys stood in between sticks for the visitors, waving off potentials goal chances.

Afees Nosiru threw the homeside to an awe with his free kick in the last quarter of the match- the set piece master was unlucky as his shot went inches wide the goalposts.

While Kwara United still maintain their fifth place on the log with 35 points, Plateau has a point between them and the top placed team, Rivers United who has 46 points.

The Harmony boys will travel to Bauchi to face Wikki Tourists in their next game while Plateau United also play host to MFM FC.
