Pep Guardiola has made a case of the match schedules as his team prepares for the return leg of their UCL semi-final clash against Real Madrid.
City held Madrid to a 1-1 draw at Bernabeu on Tuesday and the second leg is expected to be a cracker.
Before the game, the Citizens will travel to Everton for a premier league clash on Sunday and the former Bayern Munich boss is now making issue out of the schedules.
“I don’t understand it, but I have to adapt. I’m not going to fight any more. The schedule is what it is”.
“I’m sure the Premier League wants to help the teams. The problem is the schedule, the number of games there are.
“I think we cannot play on Saturday because there is Eurovision and there are not enough police to handle two important events at the same time.”
Asked whether he felt LaLiga Santander are different to helping teams in the match schedule than the English top-flight.
He said, “There are a lot of competitions, there are a lot of games in all the calendars. That’s the problem, I don’t think the problem is LaLiga or the Premier League,” he declared.
“In Germany or France, they play on Friday and we have to play when they tell us, that’s not going to change.
“Now we have five days after only four days. Tomorrow we will see the team, we will talk to the physios and the coaching staff and we will decide. We have a lot of games to play.”
With all stakes now getting more higher, the treble fight for Guardiola believes that his boys can still do the job despite the load of works.
Winning helps you to be better. If you get the mentality back you are in a good position,” he concluded.
“I always believe that the human body has incredible resources to keep going. When you think you’re exhausted and you can’t go on, you can.
“We’re going to play, for sure, until June 3, but we have to deserve to win a game to play one more week. We’ve got six games, seven potential games, it’s not too much, we can handle it” he said
