According to reports, the Brazilian football legend is now in stable condition in Hospital.
Pele, 82, was taken into the Albert Einstein Hospital in Sao Paulo on Tuesday after reports said former footballer was suffering from ‘swelling and heart issues’.
Daily mail reports that the legend has been undergoing treatment for metastatic cancer in recent months.
Message of solidarity across the world on the heels of his admission into the hospital has been coming through since on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, an update from the hospital said the three-time World Cup winner did not need to be admitted to an Intensive Care Unit.
A statement issued to the Brazilian media on Thursday said: ‘After medical evaluation, the patient was taken to a common room, without the need for hospitalisation in a semi-intensive unit or ICU.
‘The former player is in full control of vital function and [in a] stable clinical condition’.
