AN aspirant of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the forthcoming Patigi State Assembly bye-election, Ahmed Rufai has debunked allegations of certificate forgery against him.
Reports on social media alleged that Rufai submitted a fake WAEC (West Africa Examination Council) result certificate citing discrepancies in the date of birth captured on the document.
However, in an affidavit for correction of ‘date of birth’ at the Ilorin High Court of Justice which he sent to THE INFORMANT247, dated 10th of February, 2020, he stated therein that he sat for the WAEC Examination in 2014 and was issued a WAEC result by the regional examination body with certificate number: NGWASSCS
20229500.
He further claimed the original ownership of the WAEC certificate but acknowledged inconsistency in the registration of the “date of birth” which he said was wrongly captured as May 6th, 1996 instead of November 10th, 1990.
Other documents obtained by our correspondent include the original WAEC certificate, a statutory age declaration certificate at the Ilorin Shari’a Court of Appeal dated May 6th, 2013, which affirmed his date of birth to be November 10th, 1990.
Recall that the Independent National Electoral Commission in Kwara State fixed March 14 for the conduct of Patigi State Assembly bye-election following the death of the honourable representing the constituency late last year.
