Burkina Faso witnesses another military coup, second in eight months

Burkina Faso, a West African country has witnessed another military coup.

The Informant247 observes that the coup is coming the second time in eight months in the country.

It was announced by Captain Ibrahim Traore, Friday night that the Burkinabe army had taken over the authority of the country and ousted Paul Henri Damiba, the former military leader of the country.

The Informant247 recalls that the deposed military leader (Damiba) and other mutineers took over the power of the state in January from President Roch Kabore.

Traore in a statement, revealed to the people that Damiba no longer has the capacity to secure the country.

The Informant247 also gathered that the West African country is currently battling insurgency which has led to the deaths and displacement of many citizens in worst-hit areas.

“Faced with the deteriorating situation, we tried several times to get Damiba to refocus the transition on the security question”, said the new leader.

Traore has announced that the national assembly has been dissolved and the borders have been closed.

The new military leader has imposed curfew on the people of the country from 9 pm. to 5 am.

The Informant247 observes that the deposed military leader (Damiba) had just come back from the 77th Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UN) in New York.
